This 3", 6.4 ounce piece of shrapnel from an 8" Japanese shell was dug out of the starboard side of the torpedo shack by Lt. Stan Hogshead after the battle of the Komandorski Islands, a machinist mate stamped the date and coordinates into it to commemorate the event.
